Dr. Heather Shover is a preventive medicine physician with a background in biochemistry, molecular biology, and surgery. She earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from UCLA, where she also conducted genetic research. Following medical school, she completed an internship at UCLA Medical Center (1996-1997) and a general surgery residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center (1997-2000). She later pursued additional training in preventive medicine at Loma Linda University (2002-2004) while obtaining her master’s degree in public health (MPH).

During her surgical residency, Dr. Shover observed the limitations of traditional medicine in addressing the root causes of chronic diseases. She observed that modern medicine focuses on the management of chronic disease or addressing emergencies through surgery.  The ‘revolving door’ approach to healthcare made her realize that the root causes of disease were rarely addressed in patient care.  She felt that while surgery was lifesaving, it operated at the reactive end of the healthcare spectrum, whereas she wanted to focus on the causes of illness before the patient required surgical intervention. This epiphany shifted her focus toward preventive health care. She obtained board certification in 2005 in Preventive Medicine and is licensed to practice medicine in California and Tennessee.

Dr Shover is knowledgeable about the molecular biology of aging and works hard to demonstrate the scientific method of prevention to her clients. She believes education is power because it equips individuals with the tools to change.
